In the first round of the football district tournament the Eagles traveled to Festus, MO to play the Jefferson R-7 Bluejays. The Bluejays with the more impressive record fell short to the speed and athleticism of the Eagles. We could not be more proud of our Eagle athletes for their hard work and effort in the Friday win. Officials from Jefferson High School and the game officials commented many times at the sportsmanship displayed by our team and we could not be more elated. It's always great to get a win but it's even better when we get to hear that our student-athletes represent our community with class and grace.
During this contest there were two school records that were broken. Quarterback Carson Aycock has collected 1,400 yards of passing this season breaking the single season passing record previously held by alumni Brett Ellis and Gary Scott. Wide receiver Luke Marcum, also, broke a school record by breaking the single season receiving yardage record held by his own brother Mack Marcum. We are extremely proud of these two.
The Eagles will travel to Malden to play the Greenwave October 27th and will be looking to shock the critics and analysts by pulling out a big playoff win. We ask the community to show their support by showing up at The Swamp (Greenwave Football Field) and being the 12th man. GO EAGLES!!!
