My Why:

Education seemed to be a natural fit for my desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, and to be able to support the families of these children. Teaching a child to speak, read, calm, or become more independent is what drives my passion to teach.

About Me:

Since beginning my career in 1994,  I have taught all areas of special education, ranging from children 3 years of age through the sixth grade, and I have spent 6 of those years as a General Education preschool and kindergarten teacher. In 2017, I was hired as the Director of Special Services, a role in which I enjoy being able to support and share my experiences with both special education and general education teachers as they are on the front lines with our children in the classroom.

I have been happily married to Judge Rob Barker for nearly three decades, and blessed to be the mom of our two grown children and their spouses, Zach and Courtney, and Savanna and Scott, Recently, I have been promoted to Grammy status with the birth of our grandson, Elias.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending quality time with family and friends, singing along to Jesus music, Jimmy Buffett, and 80s classics, and traveling to anywhere with white sand, seashells, and big waves.
