The EPHS Student Council is finalizing homecoming plans and would like to share them with you! Homecoming will take place on Friday, September 30th, when the Eagles take on the Portageville Bulldogs at 7 pm. Coronation ceremonies will begin prior to the game at 6:00. During the coronation ceremonies, this year’s Teacher of the Year and Grand Marshal, along with the underclass attendants and king and queen candidates, will be recognized. The crowning of the queen will take place during this time, and the king will be crowned at the homecoming dance after the game. The theme for this year’s homecoming is “Eagles ‘Grease’ the Bulldogs,” where we incorporate sass and energy of the musical “Grease.” Floats and spirit days are centered around this theme, as well as the homecoming shirts.
T-shirt orders have been submitted. However, we will have a few extra shirts ordered for those who would like to purchase one after they come in for $20.
The spirit days for this year’s homecoming were chosen with the “Grease” theme in mind. Monday will be T Birds day--wear black. Tuesday is Pink Ladies day--wear pink. Wednesday is 50s Teen day--wear poodles skirts, polka dots, leather jackets, etc. that teens in the 1950s wore. Thursday is 1950s Hollywood day--dress up like your favorite 1950s star (Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Doris Day, Lucille Ball, John Wayne, etc.). Friday will be the traditional School Spirit day--wear homecoming shirts, red/black, or Powderpuff shirts.
The Powderpuff game will take place at approximately 12:15 on Friday, September 30, during school. There will be a pep assembly immediately prior to the Powderpuff games, and school will dismiss at 1:30 that afternoon. The parade will be held at 4:00, with line-up beginning at 3:15 behind Doyle School. Line up details are below.
The EPHS Student Council voted recently for this year’s Grand Marshal and Teacher of the Year. Student Council chooses someone for Grand Marshal who has shown tremendous support and dedication to our school, community, and athletic teams. Teacher of the Year is typically also someone who shows support and loyalty to the schools and athletic teams, but also makes an impact in the classroom. These individuals will be announced soon!
Voting for king and queen will take place next week, beginning Monday, September 25, during lunches at the high school.
PARADE LINE-UP DETAILS
Line-up for parade entries will begin at 3:15 behind Doyle school.
Cars carrying royalty (attendants, king and queen candidates, and youth pageant winners) riding in the parade should line up on Garfield Street, directly behind Doyle school. Enter by way of the turn in front of Casey’s General Store. Only cars riding in the parade will be allowed to come down this street after 3:00.
Trucks and walking entries should line up on Garfield Street, south of Elm Street, behind the Church of God. Please come down this road by way of Pine Street, by the post office.
Only vehicles riding in the parade will be allowed down this street after 3:00.
Floats and other larger entries, such as little league football teams, should line up on Elm Street, between the other two groups. Please enter by way of Kirkendall Street. Only parade vehicles will be allowed down this street after 3:00.
Since these streets will be closed off after 3:00 for parade vehicles, please drop off children riding in the parade by way of Kirkendall street. This will save a great deal of confusion.
If you would like to be in the parade, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so I can get an idea of the line-up and help the parade run smoothly.
Attached is a map for your convenience.
Thank you so much, and GO EAGLES!
