HOMECOMING PLANS UNDERWAY
The EPHS Student Council is working on homecoming plans and would like to share them with you! Homecoming will take place on Friday, October 9, when the Eagles take on the Charleston Blue Jays at 7 PM. Coronation ceremonies will begin prior to the game at 6:30. During the coronation ceremonies, this year’s Teacher of the Year and Grand Marshal, along with the underclass attendants and king and queen candidates, will be recognized. The theme for this year’s homecoming is “Eagle Nation: Where Dreams Come True” where we incorporate the fun and magic of Disney. Floats and spirit days will be centered around this theme, as well as the homecoming t-shirts.
Sales for Homecoming shirts have been completed. They will be delivered to schools as soon as they are available. Upon receipt, please check your bags and make sure you were given what you ordered. We can fix mistakes if they are caught early enough.
The spirit days for this year’s homecoming were chosen with the Disney theme in mind. Monday will be Monster U—wear attire from your favorite college or university. Tuesday, Toy Story Day—dress in cowboy gear like Woody & Jessie. Wednesday, Ohana Day—lei’s, floral shirts, grass skirts, Hawaiian attire like Lilo & Stitch. Thursday, Frozen Day—scarves, gloves, and earmuffs to ward off the cold! And Friday, School Spirit Day/Mickey& Minnie Day —homecoming shirts, red/black, or PowderPuff shirts will count, but we would love to see your Mickey Mouse ears with them!
The PowderPuff Contest will take place at approximately 12:45 PM on Friday, October 9, during school. There will be a pep assembly immediately prior to the Powder Puff games, and schools will dismiss at 1:30 that afternoon. The parade will be held at 4:00, with line-up beginning at 3:00 behind Doyle School. Line up details below.
The EPHS Student Council voted in their most recent meeting for this year’s Grand Marshal and Teacher of the Year. Student Council chooses someone for Grand Marshal who has shown tremendous support and dedication to our school, community, and athletic teams. This year, Mrs. Dana Ellis was selected as the Grand Marshal. Teacher of the Year is typically also someone who shows support and loyalty to the schools and athletic teams, but also makes an impact in the classroom. Student Council voted Mr. Justin Poley to receive this honor for Homecoming 2015.
Underclass attendants and Queen and King Candidates were also voted on by the student body this week. Kennedy Bennett was voted Freshman Attendant, Emma Pearson as Sophomore Attendant, and Mackenzie Matheney as Junior Attendant. The Queen Candidates will be Ashton Allred, Dakota Arnold, Allison Bisher, Jasmine Evans, and Lexi Vines. King Candidates will be Alex Cowgill, Cade Douglas, Blayn Goodding, Brett Shelby Ellis, and Ezra McCutchen. The crowning of the queen will take place during this time, and the king will be crowned at the homecoming dance after the game.
